Each brand in more detail

Phonak hearing aids in Electronic City

Phonak is a Swiss brand owned by Sonova, one of the large hearing aid groups. It is broadly known for a very wide range, including powerful aids for severe and profound loss and aids designed for children. Phonak also makes wireless microphone accessories that help in classrooms and meetings. We fit and service Phonak aids at both centres.

Signia hearing aids in Electronic City

Signia is the brand that carried on from Siemens hearing aids, and it is now part of WS Audiology. It is broadly known for compact rechargeable designs and for paying attention to how your own voice sounds through the aid, which bothers some new users. People searching for the Signia hearing aid price should know it follows the same tier ladder as other brands.

Widex hearing aids in Electronic City

Widex is a Danish brand, also part of WS Audiology. It has a long reputation for natural-sounding aids, and people who enjoy music often ask about it. Widex aids also offer soothing sound programs that some people with ringing in the ears find helpful. If tinnitus is your main concern, read our tinnitus care page too.

Oticon hearing aids in Electronic City

Oticon is a Danish brand owned by Demant. Its approach is to give the brain access to the whole sound scene and help it pick out speech, rather than cutting background sound heavily. Families often ask about Oticon for following conversation at a busy dinner table, and it also makes aids for children.

Starkey hearing aids in Electronic City

Starkey is an American company, Starkey Hearing Technologies. It is broadly known for custom in-ear aids made from an impression of your ear, and some of its models add extra features in the app beyond hearing. We tell you which features matter for your needs and which you can skip.

ReSound hearing aids in Electronic City

ReSound is a Danish brand from GN Hearing. It was early to stream calls and music straight from a smartphone into hearing aids, and people who live on their phones often ask about it. Phone compatibility depends on the model, so bring your phone to the trial and we test a real call.

Hearing aid brands compared

Every brand makes models for mild to severe loss, at every price level.

Why we fit six brands, not one

A one-brand store gives advice shaped by its shelf. Ours starts from your hearing test.

Why the brand matters less than you think

Some stores sell only one manufacturer’s aids, or mainly their own house brand. When that happens, the advice you get is shaped by what the store stocks. We chose to work with six makers so that the advice starts from your hearing test instead.

All six brands are large international companies with decades of work in hearing aids. The differences between them are real but smaller than advertising suggests. The bigger choices are the style, the technology level, and whether the aid is fitted and tuned properly. Being multi-brand also helps after you buy: we can usually service and reprogramme your aid, even if you bought it somewhere else.

Which hearing aid brand is best?

The one that fits your hearing loss, your ear and your day. So we don’t rank brands.

  1. TestA full hearing test shows what you are missing.
  2. Your dayMeetings, calls, a quiet home: how you spend it sets the tier.
  3. One or two modelsWe suggest the models that suit both, from any of the six brands.
  4. Compare side by sideIf two brands fit, we programme one of each for the 7-day trial.
Phonak vs Signia: closer than the marketing says

At the same level, both reduce noise, recharge and stream. The difference is sound and how your own voice feels, and only trying both tells you.

Phonak vs Signia, Oticon vs Widex, and choosing for a parent

Phonak vs Signia is the comparison we are asked about most, followed by Oticon vs Widex. At the same technology level, these brands are closer than the marketing suggests. All of them reduce background noise, offer rechargeable models, and stream from phones at the middle and top levels.

Where people do notice a difference is in the sound itself. One brand may sound a little brighter, another a little softer. Some people feel their own voice sounds more natural in one. These are personal preferences, and no website can tell you which you will prefer. Trying both can.

A brand that is perfect for a manager in back-to-back meetings may be more than a retired parent at home needs. A tiny in-canal aid that suits one person may not fit another person’s ear canal at all. For a parent who will wear the aids, comfort, easy charging and simple controls often matter more than the badge. Our page on hearing aids for seniors covers what to look for.

Are hearing aid brands priced differently?

Not by much. The technology level moves the price; the same level from two brands costs about the same.

Essential, per ear
₹15,000 – ₹40,000
Advanced, per ear
₹50,000 – ₹1,20,000
Premium, per ear
₹1,50,000 – ₹3,00,000+

Typical Bengaluru market ranges, not Poorvam Hearing’s price list. Sources and details are on our hearing aid price guide.

Compare the same level

When you compare a Phonak hearing aid price with a Signia or Oticon one, compare like for like. We name the price before fitting, and say so if a lower level does the job.

Which tier suits which day
  • Essential: ₹15,000 – ₹40,000. Quiet home life, one-to-one talk, TV.
  • Advanced: ₹50,000 – ₹1,20,000. Family gatherings, shops, mixed noise.
  • Premium: ₹1,50,000 – ₹3,00,000+. Meetings, calls, travel, busy rooms all day.

Quick answers

See an ENT doctor first if…

Your hearing dropped suddenly, your ear is painful or discharging, or you think there is wax. We do not remove wax or treat infections.

Where we are, and home visits

Our Phase 1 centre is on Hulimangla Road, close to Neeladri Nagar, Doddathoguru and Hosa Road. Our Phase 2 centre is in Ananth Nagar, close to Hebbagodi, Bommasandra and Chandapura. Both are open Monday to Saturday, and we make home visits for elderly or housebound patients. We service aids bought elsewhere too.

Questions people ask us

Is Phonak better than Signia?

Neither is better for everyone. Both make good hearing aids at every price level, from basic to premium. Some people prefer the sound of one over the other, and that is personal. The fair way to decide is to try both on your own hearing test. In the 7-day trial we can set you up with each, and you choose the one that works in your day.

Do you sell Phonak hearing aids in Electronic City?

Yes. We fit and service Phonak hearing aids at both our centres, in Electronic City Phase 1 and Phase 2. We also fit Signia, Widex, Oticon, Starkey and ReSound, so you can compare Phonak with another brand during the 7-day trial before you buy.

Are hearing aid brands priced differently?

Less than most people expect. Each brand sells a ladder of technology levels, and the level moves the price far more than the logo. Typical Bengaluru market ranges per ear are essential ₹15,000 – ₹40,000, advanced ₹50,000 – ₹1,20,000, premium ₹1,50,000 – ₹3,00,000+. Two brands at the same level usually cost about the same. See the hearing aid price guide.

What is the best hearing aid brand in India?

There is no single best brand. Phonak, Signia, Widex, Oticon, Starkey and ReSound are all large international makers sold in India, and each has strong models. The best hearing aid for you is the one that suits your hearing loss, the shape of your ear, your hands and eyesight, and the noise in your day. A hearing test and a trial decide that, not a ranking.

Why do some hearing aid stores sell only one brand?

Some stores belong to a manufacturer or a chain and mainly sell its own or house brands. That can be fine, but it narrows your choice. We are not tied to one maker. We fit six brands, so the recommendation starts from your audiogram rather than from what is on the shelf.

Can you repair or service a hearing aid I bought elsewhere?

Yes, for most models of these six brands. Bring the aid to either centre and we check it, clean it and tell you what is wrong before any paid work. Some faults have to go back to the manufacturer. See hearing aid repair and service.

Can I try two brands side by side?

Yes. If two brands both suit your hearing, we can programme one of each to your audiogram and you compare them during the 7-day trial: at home, on calls, in the market. Tell us when you book that you want to compare.
